Providing Quality After School for Harlem Link-sters

At Harlem Link, our team doesn't just give what we can. Beyond our engaging social and emotional school curriculum, we do more than provide services for students with language barriers, with learning disabilities, or who need help paying for lunch. We keep our alumni connected, supporting them from middle school through college, so that they know there's always someone in their corner. We offer hardworking families in need of afterschool care a program encompassing everything from homework to sports to the arts.

One of our cornerstone programs, After All, provides comprehensive afterschool programming to over 160 Harlem Link families. Through long-standing community partnerships and a team of dedicated afternoon instructors, we offer a mix of in-house and off-site community programs every afternoon, every weekday. We understand that learning doesn't stop when the school bell rings and so do our families -- that's why we seek to provide a safe, engaging afterschool space for all Harlem Link students.

In the immediate, afterschool provides a caring and supportive safe space for students to build confidence and discover more about the things they want to learn. Our program is open to all of our students, Kindergarten - 5th Grade, regardless of learning need or environment. Each day, our students practice original choreography, experiment with art mediums, build up and tend to our school gardens, and explore what it means to play to learn.

Looking to the future, we want to provide our families with the freedom to select the right program or programs for their needs, whether it be year-round coverage, further extended hours, or a program location closer to home. We see our afterschool program as a network of services, providing referrals to our greater community of partners for high school equivalency and college prep, daycare services, and social work supports -- all while incurring no additional costs to our families.

Thus, as we serve more students each year through our growing program and network, we are committed to continuing this expansion of these services until we can provide a high-quality afterschool seat for every one of our 460 students.
